Impressive Custom Fabricated Stainless Steel and Glass Coffee Table, 1970s ***SOLD***

A substantial and unique 1970s brushed stainless steel and glass coffee table from the estate of Henri & Tomoye Takahashi. Large and heavy custom fabricated frame of exactingly machined and assembled solid stainless steel, with channeled legs and chamfered edges contributing to an industrial yet clean architectural aesthetic. Original .75 inch-thick beveled glass top sits semi-recessed on steel pegs, and handsomely completes the impressive overall appearance. Quintessentially San Franciscan entrepreneurs and philanthropists Henri & Tomoye “Tami” Takahashi were the founders, owners, and operators of Takahashi Trading Company. For more than a half-century, they were an immeasurably influential importer, exporter, distributor, retailer, and champion of Japanese arts & crafts, as well as tireless supporters of their community. Per their daughter Masako, this table is from her parents’ personal residence. H 18.5 in. x W 47.75 in. x D 27.63 in. In great vintage condition. Frame: Barely noticeable small abrasion mark on top edge. Very minor cloudiness/faint marks to finish in some spots, as is common with stainless steel, and likely correctible. Glass: A couple tiny, inconsequential marks.
