Pair of Russel Wright American Modern Aluminium and Brass Torchieres

A pair of American Modern spun aluminium torchiere floor lamps with brass details by Russel Wright. An unpretentious example of Wright’s singular ability to streamline and democratize Art Deco aesthetics and materials, a talent that proved hugely popular with forward-looking mid-century audiences. Spun aluminium shade and base are bare and bright, while aluminium stem is darker and shows evidence of oxidation or faded applied finish. Brass wire-wrapped collar with subdued patina punctuates either end of stem. Retains signature wood ball switch knob. Has mogul socket, for which standard bulb adapters are readily available. 65inches high x 10.75. Fair condition. Oxidation, patina, and other mostly superficial marks and scuffs throughout, notable on stems; Some small dings/dents on shades and bases; A few slight, small warped spots on shade lips; Still present well.
