Large Orange Fat Lava Glazed Ceramic Table Lamp, 1960s ***SOLD***

A large and impressive mid-century modern orange fat lava glazed ceramic table lamp with shade. Very thickly applied and molten-like blaze orange glaze with tan and white accents truly lives up to the fat lava moniker. Indicative of the more tactile and technically demanding work produced in West Germany during the 1960s. Glimpses of unglazed brown stoneware body visible in the countless craters of various size and depth scattered throughout. A touch of order is brought to the surface via a series of evenly spaced lines incised in the glaze prior to firing. On turned solid walnut base with natural finish. Original brass stem. Socket, wiring, and large off-white linen drum shade all appear to be newer. Dimensions are H 36 in. x W 13 in. x D 13 in.. Diameter of base is 5.75 inches, and height to top of socket is 24 inches. Body in great vintage condition. Base has a few tiny marks and would benefit from a bit of wood conditioner to bring out the grain. Stem with a moderate amount of mostly even dark patina. Shade with some small smudge marks.
